Challenge / Goal
Open Government Data (OGD) is public sector data that is made available free of charge for free use in the interest of the general public, to the extent permitted by law.
These data (raw data, data sets, data collections, digital content, statistical data, geodata, inventories ...) are made available in a structured and machine-readable form so that they can be sifted, searched, filtered, processed, tracked and further processed.
Excluded are public sector data files whose publication is not in the interest of public concerns, which are to be kept secret, or which contain personal data as well as company and business secrets, so that release may not be granted without consulting the persons concerned.
Personal data requires special protection: it must not be possible to draw conclusions about individual persons on the basis of individual or combined data records.
